MAPP Launches New Community Health Needs Assessment Cycle
July 19, 2022
MAPP (Mobilizing for Action Through Planning and Partnerships) of the Southern Kenai Peninsula will be launching their Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) late July 2022. MAPP is the local health improvement coalition and has been convening these assessments and subsequent community health improvement plans since 2008. This will be the fourth CHNA completed of the Southern Kenai Peninsula by MAPP and South Peninsula Hospital. Data will be gathered July – November of this year, and a report published in the spring of 2023.
MAPP uses the 8 Dimensions of Wellness (Cultural, Economic, Emotional, Environmental, Intellectual, Physical, Social, & Spiritual) to define community health and the assessment process will consider all 8 Dimensions. The goal of the assessment is to identify the greatest needs and opportunities for local action to improve community health. The assessment will also consider any new or magnified needs due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
There will be a free community CHNA Volunteer Training this Friday, July 22 from 9-10:30 at the Kachemak Bay Campus. The training will cover how to convene surveys, focus group discussions, interviews, and effective note taking. Community members interested in assisting in data collection for the upcoming assessment are encouraged to attend.
